Sidewalk Stories

Wash The City

brands that debuted / launched / grew with us.

These are stories of how Sidewalk Saturdays impacted local entrepreneurs across the valley.

Jayce with Wash the City debuted his brand at Sidewalk Saturdays in 2021 with the mission to offer free shopping to those in need, providing clean, sorted clothing handled by “second chance” employees. He has since gone on to launch an internship program for youth entrepreneurs sponsored by Sidewalk Saturdays.

Samantha Harper

You may know Sam Harper has Green Living’s Best Alternative Health Practitioner in ALL of Arizona, but did you know she first began group sound baths at Sidewalk Saturday’s Movement in the Courtyard? It’s true. Sam organically grew her classes and launched her career, expanding to stages across the nation in her purpose of supporting you as you arrive home within yourself.

Cayla Gray

Kelly Kussman, beyond being an incredible human being, has a powerful brand story and purpose driving her successful company, Cayla Gray. After suffering from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, Kelly turned pain into purpose with her vision of Cayla Gray, a luxury candle and fragrance company. Kelly’s very first market was Sidewalk Saturdays in 2020. Two years later, her company landed a coveted spot at The Churchill, replacing founding business Gather Phx. With a big, bold, audacious vision for the future, Kelly pours her heart, grit, and wit into Cayla Gray with signature scents, new formulas, and inspiring collaborations.

The Diaspora Collective

We first met Evelia Davis (also pictured above with Kelly Kussman of Cayla Gray), the founder behind The Diaspora Collective, a celebration of Africa and the diaspora, on the sidewalks of Sidewalk Saturdays. She quickly became a staple presence on the sidewalks as she was quietly planning a vision for the future of her business. Just two years later, she launched LATHA, Swahili for flavor, a restaurant that celebrates Africa and the diaspora’s rich and diverse cuisines, music, and a celebratory VIBE, in the historic Heritage Square neighborhood. She partnered with Chef Digby Stridiron and together, they have created a family-like experience. Don’t sleep on the Criolla.
